18.05.09 Unfortunately the One Day Event has been cancelled due to the lack of entries. We will look at running this again in September.
06.05.09 Te Marua Horse Club is celebrating its 20th birthday this year. We are having our AGM on Saturday 16th May at 10am at our club grounds and as a bit of a celebration we are having a BBQ and a few drinkies. We also thought to attract a few new faces along we would have a second hand tack sale after the meeting. So please rustle through your stuff and bring some bits and pieces down and for a gold coin donation you can sell the goods at the grounds.

08.09.08 This year the NZRC's North Island Teams Event is being hosted by Masterton Adult Riding Club. (NZRC is the national body we are affiliated to). NITE is a fun weekend where clubs get together to compete and socialise - entries have to be in fairly early, so check it out and see if we can get a team to go! As you know, the WDS has been postponed twice, hopefully it will go ahead this Sunday, though the forecast is bad - again!

04.06.08 Wanted - Lame Horses for Clinical Trial.
Do you have a horse or pony that has a STIFF GAIT or may have LOW GRADE ARTHRITIS?
Massey University is undertaking a study of horses with arthritis. The
goal is to evaluate whether green-lipped mussel extract improves lameness
caused by arthritis. Studies in dogs and in people have shown a favourable
result.
If your horse can be included, your participation in the study will be
rewarded with vet clinic vouchers and at least 6 months free ongoing
treatment for your horse.
Horses must: * Have arthritis in at least a fetlock joint * Have no
non-arthritic causes of lameness (eg, laminitis) There are some
restrictions on recent treatments for arthritis. Contact Sam Gray for more
Te Marua Horse Club was formed in May 1989 by a small group of adult riders associated with the Te Marua Pony Club, who decided to form their own adult riding club and not leave all the fun for the children.
The new club had nine founder members and an arrangement to use the pony club grounds and equipment. It aimed to help local horse owners to improve their riding and horse care and to provide fun rallies, small competitions and social events.
After three years membership had grown to such an extent that the club moved to its own grounds, leased from Upper Hutt City Council.
It is now the largest adult riding club in the region with around 80 members. The club operates all year round, with a large all-weather arena 50x50m which has recently been enlarged so that it can accommodate a 60x40 arena when required. It has also built up a stock of jump stands, poles and fillers etc. for members' use.
